Ana Ruiz Agui Print E-mail

Ana Ruiz Agui was born in Spain and graduated in Fine Arts from the University of Tenerife.  Awarded an Erasmus scholarship she went to Italy to study stonecarving and sculpture at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara, taking part in a number of exhibitions.  Moving to Valencia Ana embarked on a doctorate on Sculpture and New Experimental Trends, continuing to learn about stone from the director of her thesis, the Valencian sculptor, Vicente Orti, and studying low relief techniques with Jose Esteve.  Ana won first prize for her large black granite sculpture, Life, in the Simposium de Escultura al Aire Libre O Grove and travelled to Germany to create a large public sculpture from Bulgarian marble, part of her series exploring the process of pregnancy.
