Bronze and stone are not the only media available to sculptors.  Stoneware clay is high-fired to render it frostproof; galvanised wire lends itself to bringing out character and movement in animal sculptures.  The yarra wood in Peter Eugene Ball's figure was used 100 years ago to add ballast to ships sailing out of Australia.
